A former flight attendant has opened up about the wild reality behind the curtain of commercial flying from heartbreaking mid-air emergencies to secret liaisons with pilots and even cheeky encounters with passengers.
Alanna Pow, now a 22-year-old model with a massive three million-strong following online under the handle @alannasworldx, joined the airline industry fresh out of school at 19, working short-haul domestic routes for three years before leaving the crew life behind for good.
Though she enjoyed certain aspects of the job, Alanna says the role was far more intense and unpredictable than most people realise.

Among the most harrowing moments, she recalls witnessing a passenger die mid-flight something she says happens more often than the public is led to believe. “People don’t realise how many deaths actually happen on planes,” she said. “There was one flight from Melbourne to Cairns, and an elderly man had been in the toilet for over 30 minutes.

We eventually had to open the door and his body literally collapsed onto my colleague. His wife was on board. We used the defibrillator and did everything we could to revive him, but it was too late.
After that, we just had to place his body on the floor until we landed. It was so heavy emotionally. I was only 21 at the time and it really hit me how much responsibility we had. Flight attendants go through more than most people imagine.”
Aside from the emotional strain, Alanna also lifted the lid on the secret world of in-flight romances and off duty flings. She claims affairs between crew members, pilots, and even passengers are far from rare and admitted to having hooked up with three pilots herself during her time in the skies.

Some of the pilots are outrageously flirty,” she said. “You actually get warnings from other crew about certain ones the serial flirts, the love rats. And because they’re in charge of the plane, they can basically do whatever they want.
I had a fling with three pilots. One of them had a girlfriend and would still come to mine on layovers. It’s so common when we had overnight stopovers, the pilots and cabin crew always partied and stayed together.
One even invited me into the cockpit for take off and landing just because he saw my name on the crew sheet. And there was a passenger in first class who passed me his business card – we ended up hooking up too.”

Since leaving aviation behind in 2023, Alanna has leaned fully into adult content creation, joining OnlyFans after persistent rumours circulated among colleagues and passengers that she was already on the platform.
Everyone assumed I was doing OnlyFans even before I started,” she said. “Just because of the way I looked and the kinds of photos I posted on Instagram. Nothing too wild, but I’ve always had a big chest and yeah, they were usually out. People just made assumptions.”

She maintains that she still has a soft spot for flying and travel, like most cabin crew do, but the reality of early starts, long hours, and repetitive domestic flights wore her down. “Flying became a bit boring after the first year,” she admitted. “It was all within Australia and I just needed more excitement. I don’t think I could ever go back to a regular job.”
Before signing off, Alanna shared two quick tips for passengers wanting a smoother experience on board. “Always be kind to the flight attendants,” she advised. “And always carry cash in the right currency – sometimes, you need to bribe your way out of an overweight bag situation.”
Her stories might sound like something out of a Netflix drama, but Alanna insists they’re just part of the real, unfiltered life of a flight attendant – something she lived first-hand before stepping into her current world of online fame.
