Model Mona Wu has revealed that her success in adult content has inspired several of her own family members to follow in her footsteps.
The 33-year-old, who earns up to £100,000 a month sharing explicit videos and photos online, says she was raised in a traditional household where sex was a taboo topic and initially feared how her relatives would react to her career.
To her surprise, the response was overwhelmingly positive. “I thought I’d be scolded,” said Mona, who has 374,000 Instagram followers. “But my family was supportive especially my mum. She encouraged me to pursue my passion.”
Her aunt even told her she’d helped revive her sex life, and later asked for tips on getting started herself.
Mona began creating content eight years ago after quitting a job in customer service for a gaming livestreaming platform. That experience helped her build strong fan relationships, which she credits for part of her success.
She now not only shares her own content but also advises her relatives on how to build anonymous adult content brands.
Her aunt and uncle, who previously ran a business, approached her for advice on making money without revealing their identities.
Mona was quick to help. “I don’t film with them, but I do show them how to hide their faces while recording,” she explained. “They now make more than most people in our home country.”
Her cousin, who joined the industry after a divorce in 2020, also keeps her identity hidden thanks to Mona’s editing skills. “She was nervous, but I suggested blurring her face and it worked,” Mona said. “It’s been a great side hustle for all of them.”
While Mona’s mother doesn’t yet know about the rest of the family joining the adult content world, the model is proud of how far they’ve come. “As long as someone’s motivated and wants to succeed in this industry, I’ll support them,” she said.
