Influencer Mona Wu has opened up about the moment her family discovered she was making a living selling explicit content online.
The 33-year-old, who grew up in a traditional Taiwanese household, initially kept her career secret, worried her conservative relatives especially her mother would disapprove.
Despite her fears, Mona’s rapidly growing income, including a staggering £100,000 in one month, eventually made it impossible to hide.
For months, only her boyfriend knew the truth. She juggled her content creation in secret while hoping no one in her family stumbled upon her social media, where she now has over 374,000 followers on Instagram under the handle @monmontw_.

When she finally confessed to her mum, Mona was surprised by the support she received. Rather than scolding her, her mother encouraged her to keep going and pursue what made her happy.
What shocked her even more was how some extended family members reacted. Instead of judging, a few of them were curious so curious, in fact, that two relatives ended up launching OnlyFans accounts of their own.

Mona helped them get started, offering tips on lighting and staging but made it clear she wouldn’t be watching their content. Still, they’ve told her they’re earning well on the side.
Mona believes platforms like OnlyFans offer a flexible way to earn extra income, especially for those who may not want to reveal their identity.
She openly shares her face in her content but highlights that anonymity is entirely possible for others. What started as a secret hustle has now become not just a career for Mona, but a surprising family venture.
