A model has gone viral for sharing her unapologetic dating strategy openly admitting she only dates “ugly men” so she’ll always be the attractive one in the relationship.
Lana Madison, who boasts over 100,000 followers on Instagram (@onlylanamadison), calls it her personal dating “hack” and says she’s not looking for Prince Charming, but rather someone who makes her shine.
The bold approach taps into a growing Gen Z trend nicknamed “Shrekking,” a reference to the beloved green ogre from the Shrek films where the less conventionally attractive guy lands the beautiful girl. For Lana, the appeal is simple: being the star of the show.

I only date ugly men that way I’ll always be the hot one,” she said. “He could look like Shrek for all I care. I don’t need a pretty boyfriend, I need someone who hypes me up and knows he’s lucky to be seen with me.”

Lana, a transgender model who splits her time between New York and Miami, has famously spent $150,000 on cosmetic procedures to achieve her dream look one so striking that she’s often compared to Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.
But unlike Lively, who’s married to Ryan Reynolds, Lana says dating handsome men isn’t on her radar. “Why would I spend six figures on my face and body just to compete with a man who thinks he’s prettier than me?”

She says dating conventionally unattractive men lets her take centre stage. “I’ve dated some real ogres,” she admitted. “But when we walked into a room, all eyes were on me and I loved that.”
While Lana’s looks are her brand – and a big part of the $1.6 million she earns annually from adult content she insists her high-maintenance appearance is an “investment,” not just vanity. But even she admits the “Shrekking” method isn’t foolproof.

Sometimes even the ugly guys cheat,” she said. “That’s when you realise it doesn’t matter if he’s a 10 or a two men are men. But at least I still look amazing in the break-up pics.”
She knows her views might ruffle feathers, but thinks plenty of women feel the same way deep down. “A lot of girls secretly want their boyfriend to be punching,” Lana said. “I’ve just made it a rule. My man doesn’t need abs or a jawline I’ve got enough beauty for both of us.”
