Jade Blair, a 26-year-old escort from Queensland, Australia, is redefining perceptions around sex work by openly embracing her profession and insisting it’s far more than just sex.
With nearly seven years of experience, she’s gone from working in a brothel to running her own independent business, managing everything from social media to client communication, all while challenging outdated stereotypes about what her work actually involves.
According to Jade, most people completely misunderstand what the job entails. While sexual services are part of it, her day-to-day life is heavily focused on emotional labour, personal branding, and navigating complex client relationships.

In fact, she says many of her clients seek deeper connections beyond physical intimacy. “They want to have an emotional connection with us,” she said. “They want to know who we are, not just what we do.”
That means staying constantly active online, keeping profiles updated, and handling anywhere from a couple to dozens of daily messages.
Beyond logistics, Jade has also picked up soft skills that few outside the industry associate with escorting.
She’s learned to de-escalate conversations, manage emotional clients, and subtly end sessions without making anyone feel rejected.
I’ve become good at reading people’s body language,” she explained, “and knowing how to make someone feel at ease, especially when they’re nervous.”
Despite the demands, Jade says she genuinely loves her work. Running her own schedule, earning a solid income, and having fulfilling interactions with people are just a few of the perks.
I don’t have to wear pants to work, I get orgasms on the clock, and I get to meet all kinds of people that’s probably my favourite part,” she said.
Jade originally planned to be a lawyer and even completed two degrees before pivoting. But despite working a full-time job that paid above minimum wage, she still couldn’t save enough to buy a house.
That financial pressure pushed her to reconsider her options. “I realised I needed something that would pay more but also something I would enjoy and I’ve found both,” she said.

I love being the person that brings joy and happiness into people’s lives,” she said. “It’s incredibly fulfilling.”
And as for sex itself? She still enjoys it even with a packed schedule. “I love it and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” she said. “It’s all about how we approach it. Just like anything, it can be good or bad depending on the context.”
Jade doesn’t view sex work as a stepping stone to something else. For her, it’s a career one she intends to stick with for the long haul. “Some people treat sex work like a temporary job while they pursue their dream career,” she said. “But for people like me, we’re career whores and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
