I was expelled from university for posting photos online – I lost £40K in fees but paid it back in MONTHS

A law student claims she was expelled from university for sharing photos of herself in lingerie on Instagram – losing £40,000 in tuition fees.

Sarah Button, 23, says she was told she couldn’t continue her law degree due to content she posted online under an alias.

The Brisbane-based influencer, who has 124,000 social media followers, was allegedly called into the administration building and questioned about her online presence.

Despite the setback, Sarah now earns £89,000 monthly through OnlyFans and has already paid back the debt she incurred from 2.5 years of study.

“They told me I wouldn’t be able to continue on with my course,” Sarah told NudeNewz.

“I was angry at first because the course wasn’t easy, getting through the units up to that point was really a lot of effort.”

The Confrontation

Sarah’s expulsion allegedly occurred last summer when she was approaching the practical placement phase of her law degree.

Students were being allocated to legal firms for required placement hours necessary for the next academic year.

“I was called into the admin building and they asked if it was me and I said yes but explained that it was under the guise of an alias,” she said.

The university reportedly cited a social media policy Sarah had signed when applying for the course.

“Apparently it was against some social media policy I’d signed when applying for the course, even though it’s a completely different name,” she explained.

“They said I couldn’t continue the course with my online presence.”

The institution offered her the option to reapply if she changed the themes of her content.

“They said if I was to change some of the themes of my stuff I could reapply,” Sarah said.

“If I was given the option I wouldn’t have altered anything, I’m really proud of my little online world.”

No Refund for £40K Investment

Sarah, who was the first person in her family to attend university, received no refund for her substantial tuition investment.

“I didn’t get any type of refund – I was in $50,000 debt paying for 2.5 years of this course,” she said.

The financial loss represented years of educational investment suddenly wiped out.

However, Sarah’s online content career quickly compensated for the loss.

“But I’ve paid this off through my OnlyFans,” she added.

The 23-year-old joined the platform in 2021 and now generates substantial monthly income.

Family Disappointment

The expulsion created ripples throughout Sarah’s family, who had been proud of her being the first to pursue higher education.

“I was the first of my family to go to university so it definitely caused a bit of a ripple of people kind of blaming me for my choices,” she said.

Her family’s reaction reflected disappointment about her departure from traditional educational achievement.

The situation highlighted tensions between conventional success markers and alternative career paths.

Despite the family friction, Sarah remains confident in her decisions.

“But I know I’ll go back,” she added, indicating she hasn’t abandoned her legal education permanently.

Divided Public Opinion

Sarah’s story has generated polarized responses online.

“The comments on the internet are either complete outrage for me at the situation or it’s a ‘it’s your own fault’ view,” she said.

Some followers encourage her to fight the university’s decision.

“A lot of people are encouraging me to fight against it but I accept the consequences of my actions,” Sarah explained.

Others blame her for violating university policies she had agreed to.

Like other content creators who’ve faced institutional consequences, Sarah finds herself at the center of debates about discrimination and personal responsibility.

The Discrimination Debate

Sarah acknowledges ongoing discrimination against those in the adult content industry while noting progress.

“A lot of people feel sex workers continue to be discriminated against, I agree,” she said.

“But also I think in a lot of ways we’re really being incorporated and accepted in society.”

Her legal training informs her perspective on the situation.

“I’m not mad about it, my legal brain more than understands the ramifications,” Sarah explained.

The comment suggests awareness that her situation involves complex questions about institutional policies, professional standards, and personal freedom.

Previous Headlines

Sarah is no stranger to viral attention and controversial stories.

She made headlines late last year after revealing on TikTok that she was caught at the airport with a sex toy containing her boyfriend’s ashes.

The 23-year-old regularly shares intimate details about her life with her 124,000 social media followers.

Her willingness to discuss unconventional topics has built her a substantial audience across platforms.

Keeping Her Credits

Despite the expulsion, Sarah has retained the academic credits she earned during her studies.

“I have been able to keep the credits I accrued while studying and I think that’s pretty cool,” she said.

This means if she decides to return to university, she won’t start completely from scratch.

“So if I decide to wipe my online persona I can reapply but I don’t see that happening any time soon,” Sarah added.

The credits provide an option to resume her legal education in the future.

Financial Independence and Family Support

Sarah’s online career has provided financial opportunities exceeding what a law degree might have offered.

At £89,000 monthly, she earns more than many established lawyers.

“Doing OnlyFans has allowed me to be more independent than I ever dreamed of,” she said.

Beyond personal financial gain, she’s using the income to support her family.

“I’ve bought my own home and I support my younger siblings and parents which is just incredibly enriching for me and I am so beyond grateful,” Sarah explained.

The ability to financially support her parents and siblings represents a reversal of traditional family dynamics.

Personal Growth

Sarah credits her work with contributing to personal development beyond just financial benefits.

“I learn so much about myself daily though just exploring my body and mind and the minds of the people I chat to through the site,” she said.

The interaction with subscribers provides opportunities for connection and self-discovery.

Her perspective challenges assumptions that adult content creation is purely transactional or lacking in personal meaning.

No Current Plans to Return

While Sarah maintains she’ll return to university eventually, she has no immediate plans to reapply.

Her current income and lifestyle make returning to full-time study less urgent.

The requirement to alter or eliminate her online presence presents a significant barrier.

“I’m really proud of my little online world,” she emphasized.

Abandoning her established platform and income would represent a substantial sacrifice.

The Social Media Policy Question

Sarah’s case raises questions about university social media policies and their enforcement.

She claims she was using an alias, which she believed separated her personal and academic identities.

However, the university reportedly considered this insufficient protection of their reputation.

The incident highlights tensions between institutions’ interest in protecting their image and students’ rights to engage in legal activities outside campus.

Many universities have social media policies, but enforcement varies widely.

Sarah’s situation reflects broader questions about which careers remain accessible to those with online adult content histories.

Legal professions traditionally maintain high standards regarding reputation and conduct.

Bar associations and legal employers often conduct character assessments that might consider online presence.

Sarah’s legal training makes her well aware of potential future complications if she pursues law.

“My legal brain more than understands the ramifications,” she noted.

The Future Remains Open

Despite current contentment with her content creation career, Sarah hasn’t completely closed the door on law.

Her retained credits and expressed intention to “go back” suggest legal education remains a possibility.

The question is whether she’ll eventually decide the trade-offs are worthwhile.

For now, the financial success and personal satisfaction she’s found have made the decision easy.

Whether she’ll eventually choose to eliminate her online presence to resume legal studies remains to be seen.

Sarah’s story illustrates how digital careers are reshaping traditional educational and professional pathways, creating both opportunities and obstacles for young people navigating between conventional and alternative success routes.
