‘I was an emergency nurse in the pandemic – now my husband films me with other men’

An emergency nurse who began making adult content with her husband as an outlet during the pandemic says she now earns “exponentially more” than she did in healthcare.

Serenity Cox, 41, started filming at home outside her shifts. The content quickly took off, but she kept nursing long after it became the couple’s more profitable career because she loved the job.

The couple make hotwife content, a genre in which a husband encourages and often films his wife with other men.

Within months it had taken off, and the pair sat down to work out whether the hobby could pay the bills. It could – and Serenity says the difference in income is “exponential”.

She still refused to quit nursing for years afterwards.

“My journey into the adult industry wasn’t intentional – I didn’t just say one day ‘I’m going to do this instead of that’,” Serenity told NudeNewz.

“I started doing this as a hobby outside of nursing.

“For any healthcare worker, the pandemic was a very stressful time and everybody needed some type of outlet.

“For me, my outlet was creating naughty content with my husband at home outside of my shifts.”

She said: “It got very popular very quick before we were even intentional about it.

“We were like, we’re not even really trying to make a business out of this and we’re doing quite well.

“If we put all of our energy into this, we could do very, very well.”

Even once the adult work was clearly the bigger earner, Serenity kept her place on the ward.

She said: “When I was juggling both careers, I was still making quite a bit more in the adult industry while still holding on to my nursing job.

“I didn’t want to leave the job – it wasn’t for the money, it was more just the passion.

“So I stayed with it for a long time, even though this was clearly the more profitable path.”

The couple, who live in Toronto, Canada, film the life they were already living rather than inventing a fantasy.

She said: “It works well for me because that’s my lifestyle.

“We’re a hotwife couple, so we’re basically just documenting the escapades that we would be having even if the cameras were off.

“It’s really easy for us because we would be doing this with or without the cameras.

“We just try to make it look pretty – good lights, good lingerie – but the activities are all the same and the friends we’re doing it with are the same people we’d be having these experiences with off camera.”

Some of those experiences have been rather more elaborate than others.

A couple of years ago the pair chartered a plane in Las Vegas and had a threesome in the air.

She said: “You basically charter a private plane and there’s a pilot who takes you up for 60 or 90 minutes on a flight around Vegas.

“He’s got his thing closed, he’s got to focus on flying, and once he’s up to a certain point he gives you the okay to take your seat belts off.

“They have silk bed sheets. It’s an experience – it was really good.”

Serenity, 41, says making content has pushed the couple to be more adventurous than they would have been otherwise.

She said: “If I wasn’t making content, I maybe wouldn’t have looked for these kind of fun fantasy experiences outside of our bedroom or a swanky hotel.

“We’re like, we’re going to put this on video – let’s make it more exciting.

“Besides making more money, it’s having the means to have more adventurous experiences.”

She now works with major adult studio Vixen Media Group and is the brand ambassador for Wifey, a channel launched a year and a half ago that films real hotwife couples telling their own stories.

She said: “It’s a channel that brings in real life hotwife couples to tell their story.

“I’m always going to different events and talking to people about it and inviting other couples to come on the channel to tell their story – how hotwife relationships and hotwife content have affected their lives and benefited their marriages.”

Serenity, who falls into the MILF category, believes the industry has shifted in how it treats age.

She said: “The population who’s consuming adult content is also aging.

“They don’t always want to see these 18-year-old girls – they want to see women that are relatable, or attainable.

“There’s a lot more people watching performers who are aging with them. This could be my wife, this could be my coworker, this could be my neighbour.”

Despite the size of the business, there is no management company and no agency behind her – just the two of them.

She said: “My husband comes from a tech background and he’s very passionate about the back end of the Serenity Cox empire.

“I’m just the face of it – I do the talking, the messages, the interviews, being front and centre in the content, and he does all of the tech stuff.”

Instagram, where she is verified, drives most of her traffic – and she says keeping the page within the rules has become far harder as she has grown.

She said: “The more followers you have, the more eyeballs that are on you, the more flags you tend to get.

“It’s really hard to post something and keep your page searchable and not be sort of blacklisted.

“We’re constantly trying to post things that are sexy but not going to break any of the rules.”

Her account has been suspended in the past, and she warns creators that losing a mainstream platform hurts more than it looks.

She said: “The less places where you can show your face and feed people into your paying platforms, eventually you will see a drop off.

“People can’t just go on to OnlyFans – there’s no explore page, you have to know who you’re looking for.

“So people have to be able to find you in other places.”

As for the best money she has ever spent on the business, the answer is not lighting rigs or studio kit.

She said: “We don’t spend any money on big equipment or big studios – we still keep it amateur, but we always buy the latest iPhone.

“That’s what we film our content on. They’re so great for easy amateur filming but it still looks really good because they’re foolproof.”

Her husband has kept every single one, including the first iPhone he ever owned, and the collection now sits in their home like a museum.

Serenity has little patience for the idea that adult content is an easy way out of a job you hate.

She said: “You hear it all the time – ‘if my job doesn’t work out, I’ll just start an OnlyFans’.

“People actually do believe that this is an easy industry and that if I’m selling sex it’s going to take off right away.

“But like any other industry, it still takes work and a business plan and consistency.”

She said: “Success doesn’t happen right away.

“The work that you do today, you’ll see the benefit from down the road.

“Just stick with it and don’t give up or change your direction right away because you don’t have that influx of fans straight away.”

The habit she credits most has nothing to do with algorithms.

She said: “Constantly checking in with my partner who I make the content with and making sure this is still something that brings us both joy.

“So that when people are watching it back, they can see that I’m thoroughly enjoying what I’m doing.”

And asked what she wishes she had known on day one, Serenity says she would not want the answer.

She said: “I don’t like to spoil any surprises. I love just figuring this out as I go.

“I wouldn’t have wanted to know anything different when I started. I love the way my journey went.

“You just have to do your own journey and do what works for you – as long as you’re enjoying it, chances are your audience will also enjoy it.”
