A combat veteran who deployed to Afghanistan has swapped the battlefield for the runway – and now lives in a penthouse thanks to her OnlyFans career.
Vanessa Herr spent nine years in the US Army National Guard before turning to content creation after catching her ex-boyfriend secretly buying other women’s content.
The Colorado-based model has since walked at Miami Swim Week, LA Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week – and grew her Instagram following from 700 to over 100,000 in less than a year.

“I think most fans would be surprised that I’m a veteran and that I’ve deployed to an actual combat zone,” said Vanessa.
“I’ve mentioned it a few times here and there but it’s not something I normally talk about.”
Before her meteoric rise, Vanessa was juggling military service with college, retail work and waitressing – barely scraping by while serving her country.
Now she travels the world on fully comped trips, works with top creatives, and has even paid off her family’s debt.
“It’s not just my life that has changed,” she said.
“I was able to pay my family’s property tax debt off so they could sell a home left to them by my grandparents when they passed.”
How It All Started
Vanessa’s path to content creation began with betrayal.
After discovering her ex-partner had been secretly purchasing content from other women, she decided to turn the tables.
“My ex was secretly buying content from other women,” she explained.
“When I found out, I decided that I would start creating and selling my own content.
“I started taking it seriously in the summer of 2023.”
What began as a response to heartbreak quickly became a thriving business – one that would take her further than she ever imagined.
From 700 Followers to 100k
Vanessa’s growth on social media has been nothing short of explosive.
She built her Instagram following from just 700 to over 100,000 in less than a year – primarily through marathon live sessions.
“I built my following mainly by going live for hours a day,” she said.
Her first runway appearance came at Miami Swim Week – and that same year she walked in both LA and New York Fashion Week.
The Call to Dad
When Vanessa decided to launch her OnlyFans properly, she knew she had to tell her father first.
The conversation went better than expected.
“When I decided to fully launch my OnlyFans, I called my dad to let him know,” she recalled.
“I pretty much said, ‘Hey, I’m over dancing and stripping. I’m trying to move to working online instead.
“‘The internet is a big place but just be safe and don’t click on anything involving the name Vanessa.'”
She says her entire family has been nothing but supportive.
“All of my family and friends have been nothing but supportive of me,” Vanessa said.
“I’m very thankful to be surrounded by love.”
Strangest Fan Requests
Like most creators, Vanessa has fielded her share of unusual requests.
Armpit content, she says, always makes her laugh – but one request stood out as particularly bizarre.
“Toenail clippings request has been the strangest so far,” she revealed.
Despite the oddities, Vanessa says she’s open to most things that don’t violate platform guidelines – and leans on her network of creator friends.
“I have a great support system,” she said.
“Most of my friends are creators as well, so we bounce ideas around often.”
Life in the Penthouse
The financial transformation has been life-changing.
Vanessa now lives in a penthouse, travels the world – often for free – and answers to no one.
“I get to travel the world, work with amazing creatives,” she said.
“I’m able to prioritise my mental and physical health above everything.
“I’m fully accepted by the people in my life.
“I live in a penthouse, do whatever I want whenever I want without having to report to anyone.”

Despite her glamorous online presence Vanessa says her real-life style couldn’t be more different.
“Contrary to my image on social media where I’m always in as little as possible – in real life I bring a very Adam Sandler, Post Malone, Billie Eilish vibe to the function,” she said.
“Most of the time I wear baggy sweats and a hoodie.”
What’s Next
Looking ahead, Vanessa has ambitious plans that go far beyond content creation.
“I want to purchase and develop my own land to create a family compound,” she said.
“Completely remove myself from the matrix.”
Her advice to new creators? Trust no one blindly.
“Not everyone is your friend and that’s okay,” Vanessa warned.
“Vet who you work with and definitely make sure to check the references when it comes to working with photographers.
“Read every release form and keep your own copies for your records.”
