An OnlyFans star who rakes in almost £79,000 ($100,000 USD) a month has revealed the unusual way she likes to treat herself – splashing out on pedigree cats rather than a Lamborghini.
Cami Chan, 28, dropped out of university, where she was training to become a vet, before building a small fortune posting cosplay and solo adult content online.
The content creator, who has more than 491,000 followers on Instagram @camichanowo, says that instead of blowing her money on a flashy car, she spent £1,575 on a ragdoll kitten – and now shares her home with four cats.
“Instead of buying a Lamborghini, I got a cat,” said Cami. “Spending that much on a cat is ridiculous, but he’s a purebred ragdoll and he’s certified everything. I’ve wanted a ragdoll for so many years.”
She later added a Siamese to the household, laughing that a cat is “way cheaper than a Lambo – and quieter”.
Cami’s path to success was far from conventional. She had been studying to become a vet, driven by her love of cats, but struggled with the academic side of university.
“I always struggled with academics – I was never good at school,” she said. “I wanted to be a vet because I absolutely love cats, but I wasn’t doing well and it didn’t feel like the right thing for me. So I dropped out.”
In 2019, she picked up her phone and began posting cosplay videos on TikTok and Instagram, before noticing how much money creators were making on OnlyFans.
She launched her own account in June 2020 – despite having spent her whole life adamant she would never make adult content.
“At first I was totally against doing NSFW content – my whole life I was like, ‘ew, I don’t want to do that,'” she said. “But as I got older and didn’t really see a path for me, I thought, ‘you know what, I don’t care anymore.’ It’s just a body at the end of the day.”
At the time, Cami was still living with her grandparents – and the leap paid off almost immediately.
Within a month she had earned £3,150, enough to rent an apartment and move out on her own.
“The soonest opportunity I got, I moved out,” she said. “They had no idea where the money came from.”
Her grandparents still don’t know the full story. “They know it’s from the internet, but they don’t know what it’s really from,” she said.
These days, Cami says the work has made her completely independent.
“Doing this has allowed me to buy my own house and live by myself in Chicago, travel, be single and be financially independent,” she said. “I don’t even need a man to help with that stuff. I’m single and I have four cats.”
In fact, Cami says her success has made dating almost impossible.
“Part of it is because I make so much money – it’s hard to find someone who makes more than me. I don’t want to be the breadwinner. That’s just not the kind of person I am.”
Despite the setbacks, Cami says she has come to value standing on her own two feet.
“I really like being self-sufficient,” she said. “I don’t have to worry about someone losing their job or suddenly turning on you. You never know when someone is going to snap.”
As for the strangest request she has ever had from a fan, one stands out – and it was a firm no.
“Someone asked me to step on live bugs barefoot,” she said. “I have a phobia of bugs – I don’t even want them touching me. I don’t care how much money you give me, I’m not doing that. I was absolutely disgusted.”
Above all, Cami is keen to break down the stigma around OnlyFans creators.
“I wish people knew that OnlyFans girls are just normal people,” she said. “A lot of people think we’re all doing p*rn every day and doing drugs and not giving a care. We’re not all like that. I’m literally a normal person playing a role online.”
She is also quick to stress that her content is solo. “I don’t do p*rn, I don’t do BG stuff – it’s all solo,” she said. “But when people hear OnlyFans, they immediately assume the worst. I’m just trying to pay my bills and save up until I retire.”
For now, Cami says she is focused on saving – with a new car next on her wish list.
“Every year has kind of been the same since I started – I’m just on the grind,” she said. “I’d like to buy a new car soon. I’m staying in Chicago and I don’t plan to leave any time soon.”
And while a Lamborghini might well be within her reach, it is safe to say her four cats will always come first.
