A former emergency medical technician who was earning just £11 ($14 USD) an hour and could not afford to move out of her parents’ home has revealed she quit the medical field for OnlyFans – and moved across the country without knowing a single person.
Tayuh Lynn, 27, spent years working in medicine – starting as an EMT before becoming a lab technician and phlebotomist at a small-town hospital in California, where she also worked in the emergency department.
But despite loving the adrenaline of responding to calls and working with patients, the 27-year-old says the pay was nowhere near enough to support the life she wanted – including her dream of one day opening a non-profit animal shelter.
After her TikTok videos started taking off – filmed at the hospital and in the gym – followers began urging her to launch an OnlyFans page. Within her first month, she knew it was time to hand in her notice.
“I was in the medical field for a super long time,” said Tayuh, who has over 181,000 Instagram followers @tayuhlynn and 435,000 on TikTok.
“I started out as an EMT. I worked at a little small-town hospital in California. I became a lab technician, phlebotomist, worked in the ER.
“I loved responding to calls – the adrenaline factor was so much fun and exciting.
“But at the end of the day, you didn’t make any money.”
Tayuh says she was earning around £11 ($14 USD) an hour as an EMT in California – a rate she describes as unlivable, despite it being higher than the equivalent wage in other states.
She said: “In California we had a slightly higher wage. In Florida it’s like $8 an hour.
“But it’s not enough – you can’t live on your own. You can’t.”
The creator says a shift in mindset came after she turned 25 – when she decided she was done worrying about what other people thought.
She said: “Something just clicked in my brain where I was like, I don’t want to keep living this life doing the same thing over again and not making the money I feel like I deserve.
“I think people in the medical field deserve so much money, especially first responders – it’s insane.
“I cared about what people thought. And then one day I just didn’t anymore – and it was the best decision ever.
“People are gonna judge me regardless. And I was getting judged in the medical field anyway.”
When Tayuh saw her first month’s OnlyFans earnings – while still working at the hospital – she knew immediately that her time in medicine was over.
She said: “When I made my first month, I was like ‘should I quit? I don’t think I should be here anymore.’
“I quit. And then I literally moved across the country without knowing anything about Florida.
“It sounds very manic, but I found one apartment that I liked, moved out here.
“I’ve been living here in the same apartment for three years.”
Tayuh, who is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US, says the lifestyle change has been dramatic.
She said: “It’s a completely different life. I have a lot less stress. I’m able to not work under a boss. I’m able to work my own schedule.
“I was living with my parents in a really tiny little house. The lifestyle is completely different now.”
One of the first things Tayuh treated herself to was a white Jeep – a car she had always dreamed of owning growing up in California.
She said: “I always wanted one. I always dreamed of having a Jeep.
“Which is funny because when I got the Jeep, I’m like ‘oh my God, everything’s flat in Florida – what was I thinking?’
“But I still adore my little white Jeep.”
As for fan requests, Tayuh says she has received some truly bizarre ones – including being asked to order hissing cockroaches and film herself stepping on them with her bare feet.
She said: “I did not do this, by the way, because I hate cockroaches. If you want to do something bad to me, knock on my door and put cockroaches in front of me.
“The weird ones are always the feet ones. I usually just get a lot of booty requests and they’re very normal.
“But when it comes to the feet, people are just out of pocket.”
Another fan asked her to film detailed reviews of how different surfaces felt under her feet – from gym mats to carpet to tiles.
Tayuh says her parents and close friends were fully supportive from the start.
She said: “I told my parents immediately when I made it.
“My parents were super accepting and supportive.
“I have a very small group just to protect my peace. And the people that I did have in my life were all just like ‘what makes you happy?’
“I’m so lucky. I am so blessed because I know so many people that did not have that.”
Looking ahead, Tayuh says she is considering investing in a home in Florida – but is in no rush to settle down.
She said: “I was looking into investing in a home out here, but it’s kind of difficult because I’m like ‘do I actually want to live in Florida? Do I want to move to a different state?’
“I rent because I don’t know where I want to stay for the rest of my life.”
Her message to anyone considering a similar leap is simple.
She said: “Just be authentically you. Don’t be afraid to show who you are.
“Don’t be afraid to be weird. Don’t overthink things.
“Don’t let people hold you back.”
