A former Catholic schoolgirl who dreamed of becoming the first female Pope has revealed how she swapped religious devotion for a career as a professional dominatrix.
Scarlett Jones grew up expecting to give her life to the Church, and listened as nuns came into school to explain how pupils would know when their vocation arrived.
Her own revelation came at 18 – watching a strip show on a girls’ holiday to Amsterdam.
Now the model, who has more than 567,000 Instagram followers at @itsmescarlettjones, sees clients at a professional dungeon, where men pay her to take control and indulge their private fantasies.
“I went to Catholic school and was sheltered for most of my life – the church was a very big part of my childhood,” Scarlett said.
“I’ve always had high expectations of myself, so when I was Catholic, I believed I would become the first female Pope.
“Perhaps it still isn’t too late because everyone loves a reformed sinner.
“Maybe becoming a dominatrix is simply part of me playing the long game.
“Nuns would come into school and talk to us about vocations and how you would receive a calling.
“I suppose stripping turned out to be my calling – what can I say?”
The moral dilemma in Amsterdam
On the trip to Amsterdam, Scarlett’s sheltered upbringing left her wrestling with whether she should even go into the club. Once inside, she was captivated rather than shocked.
The model, who now lives in Cambridge, said: “Being Catholic, I was so nervous about seeing my first strip show and was literally having a moral dilemma.
“As soon as I watched it, I was completely enamoured and knew immediately that it was something I wanted to do.
“I went back to university, found a club in Sheffield and went for a trial shift, and the rest is history.
“I loved it.”
She later moved into adult films and creating content for OnlyFans.
From working alone to working a dungeon
After finding that creating content on her own could be isolating, Scarlett began following dominatrixes on Instagram and listening to podcasts about professional domination.
She started seeing clients in October 2025 and quickly attracted regulars willing to travel from as far as London to visit the Derby dungeon.
She said: “Domination was an avenue I had never explored before, but it looked fun and I’ve always enjoyed working with people in person.
“I decided to try it because being at home on OnlyFans can be isolating, and now I already have regulars who spend a fortune.”
It is a route more solo creators have taken in recent years. Making content alone, at home, for an audience you never meet is a particular kind of job, and the social side of in-person work is a recurring reason creators give for diversifying rather than scaling up online.
What clients actually ask for
Inside the dungeon, clients ask Scarlett to whip or cane them, humiliate them, spit on them or dress them in feminine clothing.
Others get their thrill from surrendering control in far less obvious ways – including being completely ignored.
She said: “I had a man who loved being ignored, so I locked him in a cage, left him there for an hour and went to have a cup of tea.
“Many of these men are in control all day, so they come to the dungeon because they want to relinquish that control.
“When the door closes, they can forget about the normal world and become whoever they want to be.”

The gifts – and one claim she can’t verify
Scarlett has also received some extraordinary gifts from admirers, including a collection of Pokémon cards its former owner claimed could be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
She has photographs of the cards but has not had the reported value independently verified, and the figure remains the previous owner’s claim rather than an appraisal.
The rift at home
Her journey from Catholic schoolgirl to dominatrix caused a painful split within her family.
After one of Scarlett’s friends revealed that she had started stripping, her parents demanded she stop. She initially agreed, but later returned to dancing in secret – and refused to give it up when they discovered the truth for a second time.
She said: “We had a massive argument that lasted for years and they didn’t come to my graduation.
“I was given an ultimatum, but you can’t live your entire life to make your parents happy.”
Her parents eventually attended therapy to understand her perspective, and have since moved away from their Catholic beliefs.
Family fallout of this kind is one of the most common threads in creator stories, and the shape of it rarely changes: a disclosure someone else makes first, an ultimatum, then years of distance before anything softens.

What she makes of the Church now
Although she recognises that religion can provide comfort and community, Scarlett objects to what she considers its historical control over women.
She added: “The controlling aspect is what I can’t stand because there are many theories about the church being a system of patriarchal control.”
It is her view rather than a settled reading of Church history, and plenty of practising Catholics would put the case differently. But the arc she describes – strict religious upbringing, then a career the institution would not sanction – is one that turns up often enough in this industry to be a genre of its own.
