THE creator economy has a habit of recruiting from the last places you would expect.

Nude Newz has interviewed dozens of creators about the jobs they left behind – and while plenty arrived from modelling, dancing or hospitality, some took a far stranger route.

From a sceptic who accidentally became a professional astrologer to a science graduate who spent her days hand-spawning trout, here are six of the most unlikely career pivots we have covered – in their own words.

The astrologer who set out to debunk it

Uwu Tofu, from Texas, US, started researching astrology at college purely to prove believers wrong – and ended up a professional astrologer, charging around $120 for a 90-minute consultation and earning up to $6,000 a month.

“I actually became an astrologer because I thought it was bullsh*t,” she said.

“But once I did my research and actually started using it, I was like, ‘Maybe they’re onto something.’”

The content creator, who has more than 500k Instagram followers, has since made an even bigger pivot – swapping natal charts for adult content, and now estimates she makes around $15,000 in an average month.

The would-be first female Pope

Scarlett Jones grew up in Catholic school expecting to give her life to the Church – before a strip show on a girls’ holiday to Amsterdam changed everything. She now sees clients as a professional dominatrix.

“I’ve always had high expectations of myself, so when I was Catholic, I believed I would become the first female Pope,” she said.

“Nuns would come into school and talk to us about vocations and how you would receive a calling.

“I suppose stripping turned out to be my calling – what can I say?”

The laser physicist in a yurt

Amelia walked away from a fully funded physics PhD – and a future as a laser physicist – to run an adult content business from a solar-powered yurt in rural Washington, US, where she says she earns up to £80,000 a month.

“The irony is that I left a path many people saw as stable and successful, only to end up making more money while living in a yurt,” she said.

“That’s a contradiction I’m perfectly happy with.”

The nurse who couldn’t afford heating

Poppy Palmers loved caring for children on the ward, but 13-hour shifts on a nurse’s wage left her broke in Leeds.

“Even as a nurse, I still couldn’t afford to put my heating on. I was having cold showers. It was just such a depressing life,” she said.

After she and her partner Zach made £500 in three days selling videos, everything changed.

“Within a month of having an OnlyFans, we literally doubled our wages, so we quit our jobs and moved to Spain,” she said.

The machinist with vampire fangs

Makayla Moon, 31, spent her working life as a CNC machinist, programming industrial machines to cut metal – until her company lost a major contract and her week was cut from five days to three.

She asked for a layoff and threw herself into stripping and OnlyFans, where a set of vampire fangs became an unlikely business asset.

“The money as a machinist is not that good, so you’re living for your paycheck,” she said.

“Now I can cash out money whenever I want.”

The scientist who bred baby fish

Emmie P, an environmental science graduate from upstate New York, US, spent her days hand-spawning trout and salmon at a fish hatchery – a job she still calls the most rewarding she ever had.

“Working at the fish hatchery was probably the most rewarding job I ever had,” she said.

But with conservation funding drying up after graduation, she pivoted to adult content and streaming – and now earns more than $50,000 (£39,000) a month.

“To get a job in my major would mean sacrificing the pay – because none of the programmes I’d be working on are getting funded,” she said.
